Jax holds Qualified Teacher Status specialising in Drama. With over fifteen years’ experience, Jax has taught in both primary and secondary settings, supporting and delivering GCSE and A-Level syllabuses. Jax has experience with Edexcel as a Moderator and Examiner for GCSE Drama.

She currently supports St Paul’s School for Girls (Birmingham) with GCSE coursework moderation.

Over the years, Jax has been proud to support young people with whole school productions, devising their own work, and fundraising through performance. The transferable skills that young people learn through drama are invaluable to relationships and future careers, and these can include:

Other subjects that Jax has either supported with or taught at various levels include Music, Maths, Science, English, Design Technology, Textiles, Art, PE, Child Development, Media Studies, History, Religious Education, PSHE and Citizenship.

During her teaching career, Jax devised and directed many school plays and musicals, encouraging pupils to engage and widen their skill set in myriad ways, for example:

  • Acting, singing and dancing
  • Playing instruments as part of a live band
  • Sourcing or creating sound effects
  • Sound and Lighting Design and Engineering
  • Costume and Props Design
  • Stage Management
  • Front of House

A philosophy of allowing young people from all backgrounds to discover and hone their skills and knowledge, whilst nurturing their enthusiasm, has always formed the basis of Jax’s teaching practice. Her most favourite aspect of teaching is learning from those she works with!
