Activity of the Week:
~ Notice the changes in the weather this week and if it affects your mood. Becoming conscious of how the weather affects you means you’re better able to understand why you feel like you do. Of course, other things affect you too, but sometimes it’s just that the sun is shining, or not. When you are aware that your mood changes, then you know you can do something that helps you to care for yourself. Simple things like reading a book, meditating, finding ways to laugh, popping your cosy clothes on, all help lift you up and motivate you. Most importantly, make a note of these
things and keep it to hand so that when you know you’re dipping you can reach for your “Rainy Day Notes” to find your balance.
Thought Of The Week:
~ The sun and warmth in the UK have been wonderful this week – but we’ll dip to zero and possible snow in the coming week. In Yorkshire we have a saying, “Ne’er cast a clout till May is out” which means that a couple of warm days in March or April can just as quickly turn to freezing cold conditions, so you’d better not put your winter clothes away until the end of May!
Life and the weather are inevitably changeable, and often we struggle with this, even though we KNOW it. There are many ways you can support yourself though, the trick is bringing and keeping this in your awareness so that you can DO something about it when it happens – as the Activity of the Week suggests: set up a tool kit of ‘go to’ Rainy Day strategies to help you through.
Think of it as going to your big jumper drawer when the rain or fog kicks in!
If you remain aware of the difficulty of the situation whilst at the same time using your tools and tricks to keep you going through it, you’ll fare far better than if you allow it to overwhelm you. Have a go this week and keep adding to it as you find your ways.
